Idaho’s Premiere Metal Detecting Club

Boise Basin Search and Recovery Club

Welcome

Hello everyone, I would like to welcome everyone to the wonderful world of metal detecting.  There are so many metal items out there  hiding in the dirt, grass, gravel, sand, etc.,  just waiting to be found by the ones that happen to enjoy the hobby of metal detecting,  and for the unfortunate ones that have lost those said items.

I,  the president of the local metal detecting club in,  and around the city of Boise,  Idaho.  Also, known as the Treasure Valley.  What a better place to look for lost items with a metal detector than in a place called ‘Treasure Valley’,  although this is not the real reason for the valley to be called by this name.

I am better at swinging a metal detector than I am at working on a computer.  But, in a lot of ways they are the same.  If you stick with it, the better you get.  Also, the more times that you fail at doing something the wiser you become, and every once in awhile you get lucky and do it right,  you get what you were after.  And then there are other times that no matter what you try you just can’t figure it out. Now that said there might be a couple of parts of this website that don’t quite work as it should.  I am working on them to get them fixed,  I hope real soon.

I have been a metal detectorist for about seven years now. The more I do this hobby,  the more I enjoy it,  and the more knowledgeable that I become.  I enjoy every bit of it.  I have met a lot of new people just by joining this metal detecting club.  Now as things go,  I am the president of this local metal detecting club here in southwest Idaho.  I feel that I have come a long way in just a short time.

Now, Idaho has some very good history with the mining industry, along with the fossil beds that are near Hagerman, Idaho.  But, as being a state,  Idaho is very young compared to the rest if the United States, and the rest of the world in general.   Most of the treasures here are in the eyes of the beholder, or digger in this case.  Treasure, to me is anything that I find that is unique and different, whether it has any monetary value or not.  Most of the things that I find I don’t even think that I could sell them on eBay.   But, they are still ‘my treasures’ that I have found, with the use of my metal detector.

If you are interested in joining in on the fun of a metal detecting club and live in southwest Idaho, check out this website and then come back to this page and please if you have any questions or would like to become a member email me at: president@diggin4treasure.org .  You can also click here, complete the membership form and send (by U.S. mail) in your application. Alternatively you can print the membership application page and bring it to our next meeting….  For the time and place of the meetings, see our Events Calender.
